Support & FAQ

Where does the Hotspot tile need to be placed?

For AutoSpot to toggle your mobile hotspot, the Hotspot tile must be placed on the very first page of your Quick Settings drawer.

How to edit your Quick Settings panel:

  1. Swipe down twice from the top of your screen to fully expand the Quick Settings drawer.
  2. Tap the Edit (pencil) icon (usually at the bottom-right or top-right of the drawer).
  3. Locate the Hotspot (or Mobile Hotspot) tile.
  4. Tap and hold the tile, then drag it up onto the first page of active tiles (positioning it in the top row makes automation even faster).
  5. Tap the back button or "Done" to save your layout.

AutoSpot uses Android's Accessibility feature to simulate a button click on your behalf. Because Accessibility services can only click what is currently rendered on screen, the tile must be visible immediately when the panel slides down without needing to swipe left or right.

Why does the background service keep turning off?

To run continuously and listen for Bluetooth connection broadcasts, AutoSpot operates a background Foreground Service. However, many Android manufacturers (especially Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo) enforce aggressive battery saver mechanisms that automatically terminate background applications.

How to disable system battery restrictions for AutoSpot:

  • On your phone, long-press the AutoSpot app icon and select App Info (or go to Settings > Apps > AutoSpot).
  • Tap on Battery or Battery Usage.
  • Change the setting from "Optimized" or "Restricted" to Unrestricted (allows the app to monitor Bluetooth connections in the background without interruptions).

How do I set up AutoSpot for the first time?

Setting up AutoSpot requires three quick configuration steps:

  1. Grant Permissions: When launching the app, grant Bluetooth Connect permissions (to detect vehicle connections) and enable the AutoSpot Accessibility Service in your system settings (to automate the quick settings click).
  2. Select Bluetooth Activators: In the AutoSpot settings page, check the box next to your car's Bluetooth name (or any other paired activator device).
  3. Tap Start Automation: Save your settings to launch the background service. The service will now run silently and respond when your chosen Bluetooth devices connect.

All operations are processed strictly locally on your physical device. The app requires no internet permissions, so your data remains entirely private.

My phone is set to a non-English language. Will it work?

Yes. By default, AutoSpot searches for tiles containing labels like `"hotspot"` or `"tether"`. If your phone's system language is set to a non-English language (or your carrier uses a custom label like `"Personal Hotspot"`), you can specify the exact name manually.

How to override the Hotspot matching label:

  1. Open AutoSpot and click the **Settings** gear icon.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the settings page and expand the Advanced Settings accordion.
  3. Tap Configure on the Quick Settings Hotspot Label card.
  4. Enter the exact text as it appears on your Quick Settings tile (e.g. `"Punto de acceso"` for Spanish, or `"Point d'accès"` for French).
  5. Tap **Save** and verify the configuration.
