Will keeping AutoSpot running drain my battery?

Absolutely not. AutoSpot is designed for extreme efficiency, typically consuming less than 0.1% battery per day in standby. Rather than running active battery-draining scans in the background, AutoSpot listens passively: Android wakes the app up for a fraction of a second only when your vehicle's Bluetooth connects or disconnects, then puts it back to sleep. It uses virtually zero CPU or RAM.

To extend battery life, many phone manufacturers automatically shut down background applications after a period of inactivity. This will cause AutoSpot to miss Bluetooth connections. To fix this, you must set AutoSpot's battery usage to Unrestricted. Select your phone brand below for step-by-step instructions:

Google Pixel (Android 12, 13, 14+)

  1. Long-press the AutoSpot app icon on your home screen or app drawer and tap the Info (i) icon.
  2. Tap App battery usage (or Battery on older versions).
  3. Select Unrestricted.

Samsung Galaxy (OneUI 4, 5, 6+)

  1. Long-press the AutoSpot app icon and tap the Info (i) icon in the top right.
  2. Tap Battery.
  3. Change the setting to Unrestricted.
  4. Optional but recommended: Open your phone's main Settings, go to Device care > Battery > Background usage limits, and ensure AutoSpot is not in the "Sleeping apps" or "Deep sleeping apps" lists.

OnePlus / Oppo (OxygenOS / ColorOS)

  1. Long-press the AutoSpot app icon and select App Info.
  2. Tap Battery usage.
  3. Turn ON the switch for Allow background activity (or select Unrestricted).
  4. Turn ON the switch for Allow auto-launch.

Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO (MIUI / HyperOS)

  1. Long-press the AutoSpot app icon and select App Info.
  2. Tap Battery saver.
  3. Choose No restrictions.
  4. Return to the main App Info screen and toggle ON Autostart.

Other Brands & General Advice

  1. Go to your phone's Settings > Apps > AutoSpot.
  2. Look for options like Battery, Power Management, or Background details.
  3. Ensure that battery optimizations are disabled for AutoSpot, or set it to run without background restrictions.
